The Countdown is on!
The Enterprise National League is back, and once again it looks ready to deliver the full menu: title pressure, play-off drama, survival scraps, late equalisers, restless fanbases and clubs you could swear were preparing for Championship football the last time England lost a World Cup shootout.
Last Season
Last season gave us 1,610 goals across 552 fixtures, an average of 2.92 per game. Wealdstone produced the most emphatic result of the campaign with a 7-0 demolition of Hartlepool, while relegated Morecambe still managed the biggest away win, thumping Sutton 5-0. York City’s Ollie Pearce retained the Golden Boot with 31 goals, and the dugout carousel was relentless too, with 23 managerial changes between the end of the previous season and March.
Then there was the title race.
York City were going up. Then they weren’t. Then they were again. A season of 95th-minute swings, nerves and noise ended with Stuart Maynard’s side crowned champions, before Rochdale produced their own late chaos to beat Boreham Wood in a play-off final that somehow matched the madness of everything that came before it.
And now we go again.
2026/27 Season
The 2026/27 division looks stacked. More clubs are talking about sustainable, data-led models. Squad ages have been trimmed, with plenty now sitting around the 25 mark as managers chase the right blend of legs, resale value and senior know-how. There are three or four sides with obvious title credentials, and a much longer list capable of forcing their way into the play-off picture.
The bottom end feels harder to call. Nobody looks cut adrift before a ball has been kicked, which only makes the league feel even more brutal. Every margin looks thin. Every bad month could hurt. Every good run could transform a season.
