The National League fixtures were released this lunchtime and Wealdstone kick off their 2016/17 National League South campaign away to Dartford on Saturday 6 August.
The Stones have suffered turgid starts in recent seasons, winning just one game from the opening ten in each of the past two campaigns, but will be looking to record victory at the first time of asking this term.
History doesn’t reflect favourably either with Stones last opening day victory coming four seasons ago when they edged a Met Police side 1-0. In fact, Stones have recorded just two opening day victories in the past ten seasons (five draws and three defeats).
Elsewhere, title favourites Ebbsfleet kick off their National League South campaign at home against newly promoted Poole Town. The well-financed Kent outfit will be hoping to go one better than last season when they fell away spectacularly eventually finishing as runners-up to Sutton before succumbing to a Play-Off final defeat to county rivals, Maidstone. Fleet head up the outright betting at 5/2, with Whitehawk 8/1, Maidenhead 10/1, Welling 10/1, and Chelmsford 12/1 the fancied sides.
Elsewhere the cautiously priced 40/1 new boys Hungerford Town, playing at this level for the first time in their 130-year history, begin with an away tie against fellow new boys East Thurrock United.
