The National League fixtures were released this lunchtime and Wealdstone kick off their 2017/18 National League South campaign at home to Concord Rangers.
The Stones have suffered turgid starts in recent seasons, winning just one game from the opening ten in each of their first two NLS campaigns, but faired better last term winning four of the opening ten matches.
History doesn’t reflect favourably for the Stones on the opening day either with their last victory coming five seasons ago when they edged a Met Police side 1-0. In fact, Stones have recorded just two opening day victories in the past eleven seasons (six draws and three defeats).
Elsewhere, title favourites Dartford kick off their National League South campaign at home to Hungerford Town. The well-fancied Kent outfit will be hoping to go two better than last season when they finished third behind both promoted sides Maidenhead Utd and Ebbsfleet. The Darts head up the outright betting alongside Essex outfit, Chelmsford City, both priced at 8/1, with Hampton 10/1, Poole 10/1, Hemel 10/1 and Braintree 12/1 the fancied sides (odds from Bet365).
Elsewhere the cautiously priced 25/1 new boys Chippenham Town, playing at this level for the first time in their 144-year history, begin at home to fellow promoted side Havant & Waterlooville.
